How to pitch yourself to a podcast
Hosts get many pitches. The ones that get replies are short, specific and clearly about the host's listeners, not the guest.
A simple structure
- One line showing you know the show (a specific episode).
- The topic you would cover and why it helps their listeners.
- Two or three possible episode angles.
- One line of credibility.
- A link to your profile or a past interview.
Keep it short
Aim for under 150 words. A host should understand your pitch in one read.
Common mistakes
- Copy and paste pitches that never mention the show.
- Leading with what you are selling.
- Long biographies instead of episode ideas.
- Following up too often.
Follow up once
If you hear nothing after a week or so, one short follow-up is fine. Then move on.
Podcast Matching Done Differently
Better podcast matches. Better conversations. More recordings that actually happen.
